All-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage technology
New all-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage technology.
Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd. Energy storage technology innovation, industrial development and market development prospects.
All-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage technology is a key material for batteries, which accounts for half of the total cost. A container with a battery stack and a container with vanadium electrolyte, the two together constitute a complete vanadium battery energy storage system.

It can store 3000 degrees of electricity, and the structure of this container ensures normal operation in extreme cold of minus 35 degrees Celsius and high temperature of 50 degrees Celsius. A large number of vanadium battery energy storage systems can be combined to become medium-sized and large energy storage power stations.
In the main urban area of Dalian, there are more than 700 neatly arranged vanadium liquid tanks and larger battery stack containers, which constitute the world’s first 100-megawatt liquid flow battery energy storage power station, which is also my country’s first national large-scale chemical energy storage demonstration project. Under the control of the intelligent control center, 400,000 degrees of electricity can be stored at full load.
Energy storage, as the name implies, is to store energy and release it when needed.
At present, my country is vigorously developing green energy from nature such as wind power and photovoltaic power, but they are very unstable, sometimes more and sometimes less. How to store them is the key to improving the new energy system.
At present, commonly used energy storage is lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, lead-acid batteries, etc., but they have shortcomings in safety and service life. All-vanadium liquid flow batteries are safe, stable, non-flammable and explosive, and the electrolyte can be recycled. The battery itself can have a service life of up to 30 years. It also has the advantages of large energy storage capacity and high output power. More importantly, my country’s vanadium resource reserves rank first in the world, and the development of this new type of energy storage can be said to be unique.
(Vanadium comes from vanadium ore. China’s vanadium ore reserves rank first in the world, accounting for more than 47% of the world’s total production. After more than 20 years of research by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it was discovered that vanadium metal can store energy. At the same time, it independently developed core technologies for all-vanadium liquid flow batteries from battery stacks to electrolytes. Today, vanadium extracted from waste steel slag can also be used for the green production of battery raw materials.) At present, the cumulative installed capacity of Dalian Rongke Energy Storage’s all-vanadium liquid flow battery project exceeds 720 megawatt-hours, and it is now the world’s largest all-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage equipment manufacturing base. Including electrolyte, electrolyte storage tank, battery stack (ion exchange membrane, electrode, bipolar plate, current collector electrode frame, seal and other components), electrolyte delivery unit, battery management system, and downstream energy storage power supply.
